I'm currently using Smartripper, DVD2SVCD (CCE 2.5) and VCDEasy to rip, encode and burn me SVCD's, and so far I'm very happy with the results, but now I want to improve things, so I have a couple of questions....
1. Is there any (free !) software that makes grabbing a still image from DVD or SVCD or DivX ?
2. I read the guide on menu's and chapters and it looks pretty straightforward, however I'm just puzzled by one thing, jusging by the guide if you put a menu on, so you press key '1' on your DVD remote, it will (logically) take you to chapter 1, however what do you do if you have more than 10 chapters ? i.e. when you want to go to chapter 12, as soon as you press the '1' won't it take you to chapter 1 ?![]()
Any help gratefully received as usual![]()

I've been using Adobe Premiere to export frames so far. Check CCE; It might have that function also. If not get the DeLogo plug-in filter for VirtualDub. DeLogo has a frame grab function.

Your's may be different, but both my DVD players (Pioneer & Apex) have a +10 key that you hit before the digit key if you want anything over 9. -
1) The easiest way I've found to create your stills from the vobs is to create a d2v file in dvd2avi. Then either frameserve through avisynth or create a psudio avi file in vfapi converter and load this into virtual dub. Click on file/save image sequence and it will take one still for each frame. You can do all your resizing at once, either in virtual dub or in avisynth if you use it. This way you can literally create hundreds of stills all resized and ready to go in a matter of seconds. That's much easier than trying to capture each still separately and then resize it.
2) Yes I think pretty much every dvd player has a 10 key or something similiar to it. This is the same way you can select chapters higher than 10 on dvds also. -
Many thanks, I knew it would be simpler than I thought
