  1. Using the dvd ripping guide on the site, ive gotten an mpeg, but spruceup refuses to read it alerting me that there is an "Error in the system header - Information in its component elementary streams may be corrupted." Is there any thing i can do to fix this?

    Thanks.

Your MPEG program stream may be outside the DVD specification.

For MPEG-1 program streams, your maximum video bitrate is 1.8kbps, audio must be encoded at 48kHz. It can be uncompressed, or compress MPEG-1 Layer 2 or Dolby Digital (if Dolby Digital, there cannot be even the slightest error in the compression [or rip]). SpruceUp likes MPEG-1 in either 352x240 or 352x288. The framerate must be 29.976 or 25.

For MPEG-2 program streams, your maximum video bitrate is 9.8kbps, audio must be encoded at 48kHz. It can be uncompressed, or compress MPEG-1 Layer 2 or Dolby Digital (if Dolby Digital, there cannot be even the slightest error in the compression [or rip]). SpruceUp likes MPEG-2 in either 352x240, 352x288, 352x480, 352x576, 704x480, 704x576, 720x480 or 720x576. As I recall, 480x480 and 480x576 is not allowed. Your framerate must be 29.976 or 25 (or 23.976 w/ 3:2 pulldown; or 23.976 with 2:3 pulldown).

The trouble with SpruceUp is it won't reject your file in the beginning ... It tries to compile the entire thing, then at 99% complete, BAM, it will freeze, crash, or actually give you an error.

Good luck -- I'm still learning SpruceUp myself.

Just open up the file in a multiplexor and see what it says about the specs of the file. TMPGEnc or VOBRator will tell what you did or didnt do.
