    Hello all.

    I thought I'd move a post I made at this thread:
    GOP Header Must be proceeded by a sequence header

    ...to a separate thread of my own. Sort of felt like I was hy-jacking
    the poster of above thread. Anyways. . .

    To ask, I was hoping that someone with a DVD write/burner could take a look at
    seeing if my latest sample clip I just uploaded, will author to a compliant
    DVD, on a DVD-r or DVD-rw disk. (see link below)

    The sample clip is of decent quality, worthy of a DVD aurhoring test.
    If anything, at least you got a free sample to make conversation about.

    Thank you all, and have a good evening/night all.

  2. vhelp,

    I have downloaded and authored your sample with spruceup and
    burned it with nero 5.5.9.0, i also authored it and burned it with
    dvdit, both played fine on my philips dvd711.

    Both testburns was made with a Pioneer A04 on dvd-rw media.

    Evening all.

    vcd4ever,
    Thanks for the quick turnaround (authoring test) !!

    Ok, in hopes to be more ready for DVD authoring, I was taking a
    look at what I know or have for a basic understanding to this
    process. . .

    I was wondering what exactly is considered DVD specs in order to
    get a compliant DVD author if just about every app???
    Or, do certain apps require different setting during encoding???

    Just to clarify what I have so far for TMPG:
    * Video 720x480 ....... (not talking about 352x480 half)
    * MODE: VBR ...to 9.8k (what's the min allowed? )
    * VBV: 224k
    * DC: 9
    * GOP: 1.5.4, max: 18
    * Audio: 48k
    * Bitrate: 384
    - - - is this is correct, or not?? - - -
    [x] Output bitstream for edit (Closed GOP)
    [x] Detect Scene change

    Currently, in my TMPG encodes these days, I use the above DVD
    standards, but w/ the following modifications:
    * MODE: VBR max to 2340k or 2520k (BETA testing max settings)
    * GOP: Max:~18, AND 1.5.4 or 1.5.3, sequence etc.
    * Audio Bitrate: 160k
    * [x] for output (closed gop) and [x] Dect scene...

    If I've missed anything else, I'd like to know.
    And, if there is a min. to max. setting(s) to use during my
    encoding, what is the tolerance of such settings so that I dont
    deviate to far, and roin an author, be it myself, or you guys
    out there testing for me or curious, or comparing, etc.

    I had another sample to upload, but I wanted to be sure I had
    it down within reason for DVD authoring, else I'd make any
    necessary changes in my encoding settings to make it easier for
    you all.

    Thank you all for your responses.
