  1. I have downloaded several .avi's where the audio does not match the video. Is there someway to fix this.

I have tried using VirtualDub to pull out the audio (.wav) and then using TMPGEnc to recombine them, but the problem was the same afterwards.

    Thanks for the help,

If these are DVD rips they may have AC3 audio, saving out the audio is right, but how you did it may make a difference.

    Vdub
    Audio > full processing mode
    Audio > conversion > 44.1Khz
    SAVE WAV

That saves out the audio uncompressed ready for use with TMPGENC

If the audio is AC3, you can download "Vdub AC3"
    http://www.digital-digest.com/dvd/downloads/virtualdub.html or from Kazaa

    You can also do this
    Vdub
    Audio > direct stream copy
    SAVE WAV

rename WAV to AC3 and convert with headac3he

There is also adjustments in both Vdub and TMPGEnc to delay or increase the audio gap, which might work if its constant throughout

  3. I recently posted a possible solution for synching the audio and video, which was to let nero encode the avi. Could you tell us some more of the specs for the avi file (fps, audio, length of video and audio, etc.) and then also tell us what you want to do with it (i.e. convert to mpeg, convert to vcd, leave it as AVI, etc.)

  4. Thanks for everyones help and quick replies.

The fps are 23.976; movie length is two hours (Kate and Leopold - 718 meg); the audio by itself is 1221 meg

I want to convert it to a SVCD.

Yes and I think I replied... Don't let Nero convert anything, maybe your been lucky, but mostly it messes them up

I'm confused by your quoting me and then saying "yes and I think I replied". Could you explain what you meant?
