Greeting
I was wondering if some could give me some help on dvd authoring software. I got a Pioneer DVR-A04 drive and tried Ulead's dvd workshop. Burn't my disk and it was like watching a foreign film. The mouth's would move and a few seconds sound. BAD SOFTWARE!!! The unit comes with "My DVD" but the audio comes with PCM Audio. That sound like large audio data files. I like dvd movie factory but have not tried it yet. I am using win2000. Can anyone please help?![]()

please do not take this the wrong way but there are maybe 1000++ posts on this subject here on this forum and another 10 or so guides also ..
i suggest reading through some posting - reading some guides and then get some questions ready that are more specific and supply more detail of what you are doing and your settup ..
lots of people would be happy to help ...
again -- please dont take the wrong way .. but you just didnt supply enough info to go by .. -
I guess I was wondering how successfull were people with Ulead's dvd movie factory with win2000 and is there any EASY to use software that uses anything but pcm audio. To use DVDit you have to be a rocket scientist and artist.Just too much work. And most of the posts list problems that "THEY ARE HAVING" not to much of the success stories. I'm looking just for easy to make menus nothing complex. No AC3. NO PCM AUDIO. Sorry if I was lacking info.
And I appreciate your help and honesty. -
gf: From my *limited* experience this is what I did.
The senario : burn a hi-q divx to dvd-r.
Source file : Divx 6xxX3xx or so. can't remember the exaclt specs of the file.
Drive : Pioneer DVD-R A04.
What I did.
convert the file using tmpgenc. I used this mainly because it allowed me roughtly guess the size of the outputted file. Create the mpeg2 file to about 4GB. I used the Pal dvd wizard and adjusted the bitrate to approximate a 4gb output file size.
File ended up being mpeg2 video and mp2 audio i think?
I then used the "Author Menu's" of Ulead DVD Movie Factory to create the menu's and finally the video_TS and an .iso file for burning.
I then used instant cd+dvd to burn to dvd. I used the .iso as the source.
My played is a Toshiba SD-1300. And it plays fine.
It worked very well and i'm quite pleased with the results. It was very rushed but atleast I got a good working version from my quick and nasty method. I will be better prepared to get a dvd-r when they drop below $500AUS.
Hope that helps a little.

Hi Koops,
I tried DVD Workshop but the audio was WAY out of sync with the video. I was wondering what version, patches, etc.. you were using with that package? The video played fine in the preview before burning. Also what is the audio data rate you are using. I talked to someone at Ulead and they said to go lower than 384 kB/s to something like 224 kB/s. -
gf: it was DVD Movie Factory not workshop. I don't have that one so I can't really comment.
