plz help with tmpgenc

right im having trouble with the guide how to put vcd mpg1 on a dvdr,i have a few vcds on my h/d now the first step is to open tmpgenc go to tools open simple demultiplex and open the avseqo1.dat file to input,,,,,,right i aint got that i get blah.mpg file and in the video and audio output it says .mv1 and mp2 i dont get them either i get mpg in both cases.why is this so at the end of the conversion i have to rename the two mpg files i have to mpa and mv1 then i go to spruce up and all it does is loads the mv1 file and not the mpa so i have no sound any help would be well appreciated as i dont know if its me doing something wrong or my system. im running xp does that make any difference

have you disabled hide file extensions in explorer?

dont understand what you mean ,do you mean in internet options

Windows explorer not internet explorer. Tools-Folder options-view-hide extensions for known filetypes (deselect)
