  1. I am fairly new to Video Editing and I have seen some guides that discuss using Filters in VirtualDub and I have followed such directions in those circumstances but it would be nice to get a "guide" to the most popular Filters out there and proven settings.

What Filters do you use and what settings do you find work the best? I am interested in "Smart Smoother", "Smart Deinterlacer", "Telecide" and any others that may proove useful.

What do you like and when do you use them?

I have heard "Smart Smoother" is good for Video Captures. Give me some "for instance" scenarios. This may help others as well.

I'm a Filters Virgin... be gentle.

  2. Come on, I know many of you use Filters in VirtualDub.

    How about some help?

Here are some scenarios to get you started:

    TV Capture
    DVD Rip
    DivX Conversion

What Filters do you like to use in these cases and what settings do you find work the best?

WarpSharp Filter to sharpen movies (I use 36-40)

Deinterlace(blend) and Area based Deinterlace to deinterlace movies

NoiseReduction to improve picture(be carefull not to
get to high with NR or you get ghost artifacts)
only for AVI( TMPGEncoder is better for MPG)

    Sometimes brighthness and contrast

    Resize (precise bicubic) to resize

    DVD Ripping
I am using DVD2AVi and AVIsynth.

  9. Bump

Does anyone else have a favorite Filter or any certain Filters they use all the time?

Please supply info to help me as well as everyone here at VCDHelp.

    Thanks!
