  1. I have been doing VHS to DVD. This is my first time trying to rip, please don't be cruel for my lack of understanding.

I have printed out the guides for dvd to dvdr and I am using smart ripper. I am a little confused, after you rip the video and audio, if it is under 4.7 you don't have to reencode?

Which is better Smartripper or DVDdecryter and why?

    I think this video is a dvd9.

If you're backing up the AP Ultimate Edition, you will need to do the full banana to get it to fit. DTS etc gets stripped.

Rip with DVD Decrypter to file mode.

Strip with IFO Edit and leave only AC3 6ch English & subs.

Rempeg to shrink the main film to about 84% of size just to be safe.

Remux with IFO Edit and reset VTS sectors and such. Use doom9.org guides for this.

Then burn in any data DVD burning software!!! hooray. When you play the main movie, it should be just about indistinguishable from the original.
