    i am trying to decode a divx file to mpeg 1 but everytime i do i loose the soung but the picture is fine where am i going wrong ?is there a more suitable program for this than TMPGEnc

    Look at the how to convert avi to divx guide, the audio is probrably compressed and you need to save it as a wav file.
