Raw AVI encoded to Mpg

I am trying to find the best way to encode raw avi encoded from .vob files by flask mpeg to mpg files with good quality and ok size to be played on computer.

I have tried using tmpegenc with mpeg-1 settings ( i want mpeg-1 ) , 1:1 aspect ratio, 25fps in frame rate, constant bitrate and 900 in bitrate , but the quality is abit poor.

Any good suggestions on settings for mpeg-1 that will give quality and still not so big size ?

you should'nt go below vcd specs. so the bitrate shouldn't be below 1150kbps. Below that the quality can't be good. i know in the guide section there is a guide to making your movie fit on 1 cd but i wont garanty great quality that way. here is also kwag's template which is fairly good do a search if you want to try
