Are those Mpegs fully compliant, did you separate and convert the audio ?

  3. yes I used Smart Ripper to rip the VOB files, then DVD2AVI to make the wav file and the d2v file....then I used tmpge to make the mpeg file...I think where the audio is getting out of synch is when I cut the mpeg in half with tmpge...I also use toolame for the audio in tmpge...well I hope you can throw some ideas at me....need help man thanx

So your audio source is MP3 not the AC3, I never use toolame. I did this for someone the other day around their house, but used AC3 instead, should not make a difference BUT ! If you use AC3 you are then forced to uncompress it to WAV, then there is less chance of having lip sync.

So you have MP3 as the audio in TMPGEnc ? I think you should Uncompressed at 44.1Khz just to be safe, or go the AC3 route.

Since you already have the MP3 you can load it into www.goldwave.com (Also get MP3 plug-ins) and save out as a WAV

Its hard to tell if the cut has caused the problem, it may react differently on your PC, than on a disk. Since this is a rip, I don’t expect anything to be wrong with the source, if you use merge and cut, but use the whole length to produce the same as the original is there still a problem ?. Is there lip sync only in the second half ?

  5. No my Audio is A Ac3 .Wav File created with DVD2AVI...so your saying not to use toolame to convert my audio to 4100hz ? I tried so many movies already and only 2 movies are giving me audio synch problems...is there any troubles with having other programs installed? Because I installed Counter-Strike and Adobe Photoshop7, and then I kept getting errors whenever I tried using DVD2AVI, toolame, and ssrc? So I uninstalled everything and now it all works ok just the audio is out of synch....I dunno man this stuff is wierd...but so far I have made over 50 xvcd's...in only 2 months of onverting need help man?

Just read through these forums and count the number of people who are having trouble cutting an MPEG in Tmpgenc and keeping sync.

I would either attempt to cut the video with a different tool (e.g. VCDCutter) or try to synchronise the audio manually using one of the guides on this site.

    Ok your Audio is AC3

    Go get "Vdub AC3"
    http://www.digital-digest.com/dvd/downloads/virtualdub.html

And get that saved as uncompressed at 44.kHz

You can use this WAV with TMPGEnc, despite what has been said, its still the best for this work, with thousands of satisfied people.

Use the source range to make the output, then you dont have to cut it up later, most peoples problems in this forum with cutting, is not selecting the MPEG-1 VCD or have captured mpegs full of dropped frames.

what might be easier is to use headac3he to converte the ac3 directly to mp2.
go to doom9.org, and you will find the program, and a guide.
    very simple

If DVD2AVI has produced a .wav file then it has almost definately decoded the AC3 audio stream into an uncompressed WAV audio file.

If I remember rightly, Decode is the default setting in DVD2AVI. If you want to preserve the AC3 audio then you must select Demux instead.

Thanks for the help but I dont want a compressed audio source since you lose more quality than if I were to make it into an uncompressed wav. Thanks for answering though

honestly, this problem sounds more like an authoring problem than an encoding problem... You say that the created mpeg plays fine on your pc? if so, then it sounds like a problem with either your cd media or your burner. Just as a test burn the mpeg again, but this time, at a slower speed. If you happen to have any other brand disc's, try one of them also.

  12. OK here is my situation after last night....I reinstalled WindowsME and now everything is alright. Converting like it was before and finally cutting and burning right. I honestly think it was EITHER Photoshop7 or Counter-Strike. If anyone has had any problems with TMPGEnc after installing either of these 2 programs/Games then maybe they conflict with each other hence forth maybe a bug in TMPGEnc???

Well not quite right, most players are very forgiving, and will play any old rubbish its only when you come to edit you get the problems.
