  1. I have a few PAL VCDs that I bought overseas. I used TMPGEnc to convert it to NTSC format. But when I use Easy CD Creator 4.02 to burn onto CD and try to view it on the DVD player, I find that the VCD doesn't automatically play. Instead I have to use the remote control to navigate to that folder and file, then click play. I have an Apex 5131 DVD player. When creating the CD, I simply copy all the files/folders from the original PAL VCD and replace the .DAT files in the MPEGAV folder with the converted TMPGEnc output files.

How do I burn a CD such that it just automatically plays on my DVD player? Do I need to used something like VCDEasy? or Nero? or do I just use a different setting in EasyCD Creator?

    Thanks.

  2. Does your player have a PBC on/off option in the setup?

  3. First: Are you using Easy CD Creator instead of Video CD Creator? If so, you're probably creating a data CD with a VCD's structure, not a true video CD. You have to have the retail copy of Easy CD in order to get VCD Creator.

If you don't have Video CD Creator, then I'd strongly advise you to download the trial version of Nero and use that instead. Use its VCD template and drag your files to it.

My DVD player doesn't auto-play VCDs, so I can't be sure Nero will make an auto-play VCD, but I have software that auto-plays VCDs on my computer. It works for disks I've created with Nero.

If you DO have Video CD Creator, then just load your converted files into it and let it do its thing. It will check the files for VCD standards-compliance and put them in the proper directory.

  4. Ah, yes, "VCD" doesn't just mean a VCD-conpliant MPEG file on a CD, it means a VideoCD-compliant disk, with this structure:
