  1. I am trying to conver AVI's downloaded from the net into MPEG's to rip unto VCD but doesn't work. I got into the Video source and attempt to load the avi file but all I get is C:\v.vi can not open, or unsupported.

    What am I doing wrong?

  2. What is the format (e.g. DV,DivX) of the film inside the AVI?

AVI is only a fileformat which can hold video encoded with different encoders/algorithms like DivX and DV. You must have a decoder to be able to encode the file in TMPGEnc.

Can you watch the AVI on your computer, in that case you do have an decoder installed.

  3. The files are primarily DivX.... Did not know about the whole decoder thing - I am pretty sure that would be the problem. How would one go about getting a decoder and installing it for the TMPEnc to work.

  4. For DivX I'm using the de- and encoder that is available at www.divx.com/. I'm using the latest beta version which works great for me.
