    A few bugs were fixed:
    SVCD setting for VIVO cards
    DVD GOP header fixed
    Audigy soundcard compliant

Might as well download the new Radeon drivers,I haven't noticed any
    performance gain though.

After un-installing 7.6 and installing 7.7, I get several "New hardware found" massages. But upon clicking "install software automatically", I'm informed that Windows (XP) was un-able to find the correct drivers.

I've tried installing manually, but I can't find the drivers myself. I've tried the Windows/System32/drivers folder, the C/ProgramFiles/ATI/blah blah floders, etc.

I tried un-installing and re-installing, un-installing everything (drivers, MMC, capture driver, deleteing reg. entries, etc.

I finally had to install the new card driver and old 7.6 software.

Anyone know why after installing 7.7, windows can't find the six drivers for the MMC componants???

    XP
    Athlon 1.2 Ghz
    512megs
    AIW Radeon

    BTW,
Anyone else notice that the MMC 7.7 file is called "7.0.0.1", but upon installation, the splash screen says "7.0.0.0"?

If ATI was too lazy to update this screen, I wonder what else they were too lazy to do?

  4. I had the same problem. Thank you for the heads up though, now I can capture TV again, heh. It would find the hardware devices but no drivers. I assumed ATi messed up (again) so I was waiting for them to re-release a repack of their drivers/MMC. I will just go back to MMC 7.6, it works, what can I say?

    I use a Radeon 8500DV A-I-W

I don't know, but I sure have a few things to say.

I'm so tired of this crap, not just from ATI.
They make such a big deal about people using peer-to-peer to get software for free, but mum's the word when they sell you software that dosn't work as advertised.

BTW, I coulden't simply go back to MMC 7.6, I had to roll back the display driver as well.

ATI screwed up with the new CATALYST 2.2 Radeon drivers. After I installed it my XP was crashing and I couldn't watch TV, XP was crashing. Don't use it until ATI sorts out their crap. I came up with this set up for my WinXP and AIW Radeon:

    Install order:
    1. WDM capture driver 6-13-10-6125, don't reboot
    2. XP driver 6-13-10-6094 (Catalyst 2.0), reboot.
    3. ATI control panel 6-13-10-3017, reboot
    4. MMC 7.7.0.1 noDVD, reboot.

    It works now ok.

  8. When receiving the message about new hardware after installing the new drivers try reinstalling the wdm drivers and reboot. Most of the time that will take care of the situation.

If you have not installed the drivers yet follow the procedures provided in the preceeding post.

If you're talking about this newest set of drivers/MMC, been there, done that.

How can you say "Most of the time that will take care of the situation."?

How many systems have you tried this on? Enough to know that it works for most people most of the time???

  10. No, I think they mean the 6125 WDM capture drivers (available on the same page as the display drivers and MMC).

edit: By the way, I checked the version number of my WDM drivers, and they are .6142, not .6125 - and they working well with my AIW Radeon and catalyst 2.2 (.6118) display drivers. I got them from a link on the www.rage3d.com forums.

Well, I for one appriciate the help, but I did a search on that site for "WDM", and only .6125 came up.

  14. Iceebo,

Sorry bad choice of words in my last post - I should have said sometimes. It worked on several installations I tried it on.

If installing the WDM capture drivers did not clear up the problem, then it might be a suggestion to start from scratch:

Here is what I would try:

    1. Remove all the items in the following order. Use Control panel add/remove
    a) Gemstar
    b) DVD player
    c) MMC
    d) ATI drivers

While it may not be necessary, I would reboot after each one. When rebooting after removing the ATI drivers the system will install the WinXP default drivers. It will take a little while let it finish.

Then start reinstalling in the following order:

    1. WDM drivers (do not reboot)
    2. ATI drivers - Reboot
Give it a bit of time before proceeeding. It will find new hardware and install the drivers for it. Let it finish before proceeding. Do not be in a hurry here.

    3. ATI Control panel - Reboot
    4. DVD player -
Note you need the ATI disk that came with the video card to install dvd 6.0.
Reboot even if it did not ask you too.
    5. Install MMC - reboot.
    6. Install Gemstar from the ATI disk (in setup folder)

  15. Ok, I'm not vouching for these 6143 WDM drivers, and the site is in German, but it's pretty obvious which they are if you don't sprechen Sie Deutsches The filename (wdm_020704a.zip) is the same, as is the 2.77MB size.:

    http://www.ati-news.de/HTML/Download/wdm.shtml

After you unzip the file, you'll have to point the program to the folder for your OS, when it detects each new piece of hardware (at least I did). Best of luck!

  17. Best Wishes -

PS - I used the WDM drivers from ATI myself. I was not aware of the later versions.

I have had ATI cards for a long time. The first ATI AIW I got during the win98 beta for trying out Web TV. I like the ATI cards but I have to admit that installing and upgrading drivers and utilities have been a problem at times with the various operating systems (win98, win98SE, WinME, win2000, and XP). I have 4 computers around here - all with ATI cards

  18. Dunno,

I followed the instructions for install of the update, and everything worked fine. I like being able to uninstall all the old versions (7.7 required 7.6 to be installed). The key to any upgrade/install from ATI seems to be FULLY UNINSTALL ALL PREVIOUS SOFTWARE/DRIVERS BEFORE INSTALLING UPDATED VERSION (including capture drivers, etc...)

I would also uninstall and reboot each separately (rather than reboot later), with the old drivers being the last to go (so XP doesn't automatically reinstall on reboot). Finally, make sure that you delete the old install files (default creates a "ATI" folder with subfolders in your root directory) before installing the new version. Otherwise you might end up with a hodgepodge of old and new dll's etc... I know, if ATI wrote a better install routine, we wouldn't have to deal with this crap, but you play the cards your dealt.

Finally, when you reinstall, do it in the following order (direct cut and paste from the release notes of the WDM drivers--why they bury it there instead of plastering it EVERYWHERE is beyond me).

We suggest the following installation order,

    1- tv-capture-wdm-6-13-10-6125.exe
    2- DO NOT RESTART Windows
    3- Recommended ATI Display Driver
    4- RESTART Windows

Good luck and I hope this helps.

BTW: Duron 1 GHz, AIW Radeon 32 MB DDR, Hurcules Game Theater XP, Windows XP, 512 MB DDR

    Well, thanks guys. Nice try.

I tried everything, but it's not working.
I used Mirrors WDM driver from Germany, and this time "most" of the "found new hardware" messages installed.
But two devices refuse to install:

    ATI Rage Theatre Video
    ATI Rage Theatre Audio.

They seem to almost install, but before finishing "Access Is Denied".

Seems I'm making a career out of trying to install ATI's drivers.

I can hardly wait till Hauppage releases their 350 (hardware encode/decode), so I can get mad at somebody else for a change!

  20. Had the same problem but found on another forum one who said that the WDM capture drivers 6-13-10-6125 now has a different filesize than when he downloaded it earlier. Tried downloading them and he is correct, they are larger than only a few weeks ago. Now it works great.

    (Frow above)
    Install order:
    1. WDM capture driver 6-13-10-6125, don't reboot
    2. XP driver 6-13-10-6094 (Catalyst 2.0), reboot.
    3. ATI control panel 6-13-10-3017, reboot
    4. MMC 7.7.0.1 noDVD, reboot

    Fianlly got it installed, sorta.

Had to un-install everything, then install Catalyst 2.2, the WDM drivers that were out b4 Catalyst 2.2, and MMC 7.7.

The latest WDM drivers (even from the German site), won't fully install.

The Hauppage model 350 comes out in mid Sept.

    Who-ha!

  22. Alright folks....I'll try to help you all out with a bit of ATI busting wisdom. As a hardcore gamer AND avid Capper/SVCD/VCD maker I've spent ALOT of time upgrading and removing. If you have installed lots of drivers you may be having conflicts because ATI has TERRIBLE uninstall programs. There is a step by step driver removal at Rage 3d that I suggest you all try BEFORE installing new drivers. I had conflict after conflict until I purged my system folder and my registry of all references to ATI. Now everything works beautifully. I would also suggest people try (they don't work for everyone) the drivers over at omegacorner.com. In my experience his tweaked drivers are VASTLY superior to ATIs......good luck.

p.s. if you have any specific questions I'll be happy to answer to the best of my ability

Also, don't forget to use the "DisableATIMacrovision" tool. I have now been able to successfully cap Macroed tapes that I was unable to cap using my AIW 128. If only I had bought the 7500 Radeon AIW before buying the ADS Instant DVD...

And if only I had bought a Replay TV for $450 before believing ATI about the capabilities of the AIW Radeon and spending:

    $200 Radeon
    $600 Computer
$120 Remote Pointer (no ATI remote at that time)
$??? Hours trying to get it to work right

I would have been able to get TWO Replays (or three TIVO's), have more hair, and not have to take medication!!!
