I tried a C-Media cmi8738 sound card and it always embeded hiss in the audio of the video captures.
The sound volume was also very low.
I have an old SB Live value that does work, but I'm starting to worry about driver support.
The last drivers released for it was 5/5/00 and they aren't WDM drivers.
I'm almost positive that any lockup I ever have is due to the live.

Any suggestions, esp in the < $50.00 range

    Thanks
    Trik

Come on folks, I'm not asking for bank acct info.
I'm asking what sound card you use

  3. SBLive! Value, and the drivers that Windows XP online update installed are WDM (5.1.2602.0) drivers.
As Churchill famously predicted when Chamberlain returned from Munich proclaiming peace in his time: "You were given the choice between war and dishonor. You chose dishonor, and you will have war."

  5. SB Live owners should deinstall all the extra creative apps and control
panel utility (as well as dos plug&play compat driver) and keep just
the basic drivers. You should then capture at only 41.1Hkz 16bit. This can prevent many of the lockups and sync issues some have reported.

  6. The best choice for a sound card in that price range is going to be a Turtle Beach Santa Cruz, MUCH, MUCH better than the Sound Blaster Live! cards, and MUCH more stable. This is also the sound card that ADS tells users to buy to try to make the ADS Instant DVD work better.

  8. Should be fine for gaming, but that's not something I am into.
