Did u change your Software DVD Player's Region setting.

Your software(dvd player) region setting cannot be set to 0, however a program called "DVD Genie" will reset the number of times u can change the region.

I have WINDVD and i must change the region setting if I want to play region 2 dvds.

This takes one change from my allotment. However DVD Genie will reset my alotment to 5.

There is a reminder in the instructions to obtain a region free DVD software in www.firmware.fr.st.

PowerDVD and WinDVD just won't work. They are region setting programs.

Sound as though the change as not successful. Did you do a test in the computer's drive, driveinfo11.exe. You can download the "driveinfo11.exe" from firmware.

The test will tell you whether the drive is RPC-2 or RPC-1. Your drive is supposed to change to RPC-1, "This drive has no region protection" If it has changed successfully, then it is the program causing you the problem.

I haven't installed the freeware software yet as I can play a DVD movie in one computer as region 1 and the other as region 4. There is no hurry for it.

  9. I Have an LG DRD8080B and use a prog named RPCMAN it resets the
drive to 0 again so you have another 5 times to change region you can
also use it to disable the region until you reboot its made by LG and I
have read some where it will also work on your drive if you can't find
it on the net post me and I will email it to you?

    hope this helps

  10. I did the test using the driveinfo program, but after I flashed my dvd-rom, it still says my dvd-rom has region protection. And don't say that I used the wrong firmware, because my drive still works fine with my dvds.

  11. I just tried to use RPCMAN, it's true that it works for my dvd-rom, but when I open this program, I can't choose my drive, there's nothing in the pull down box, that's very strange. Does anyone know why it happens to my drive???

  12. sorry for this, the RPCMAN worked, it's because I put the win32api.dll in the same folder as RPCMAN.
But now what I really want to know is, why my dvd-rom is still RPC-2 if I flashed it with the right firmware???
My drive is LG DRD 8160B

either it didn't flash, the firmware is faulty or it isn't reporting right.
