Freezing when capturing is stopped

I recently put together a new computer. In it is a new Gainward Ti4200 Golden Sample 128mb with VIVO. I'm trying to capture with svideo and line-in sound. When I use the bundled software(WinCoder) as well as VirtualDub(following the tutorial), stopping the capturing results in the program freezing. The only way to recover is a hard reboot. I have downloaded and installed the newest drivers for my card. Please offer any advice you may have. Thanks in advance,
