  1. People on ebay and pricewatch are selling cheap TDK media (unbranded) for 1.50-1.90 a disk. Has anyone tried these yet?

  2. I wrote tdk support on this and got the following response:

    Dear Valued TDK Consumer:

Thank you for taking the time to write to TDK, it's nice to hear from you.

Currently, TDK does not package its DVD media in 100pack spindles. This product you purchased from e-bay is not TDK product. This product is being sold to you by a unscrupulous company that is making money off the TDK name.

We are aware of this situation on Ebay, and have alerted the appropriate department. Our recommendation would be to purchase TDK's DVD media from reputable retail stores or web sites, like CompUSA, Buy.com, CDW, Microwarehouse, etc.

An alternative is to provide us your name and the state in which your residing, and we'll provide you with a TDK Authorized Sales Representative, who will assist you in finding TDK product locally.

Once again, we thank you for taking the time to bring this matter to our attention. If we can be of some assistance in the future, please let us know.

    Thank You
    Customer Services Department
    TDK Electronics Corporation.

  3. Very interesting. I have seen several reputable web sites selling tdk dvd-r media for 2.50-3.50 each. I believe the email from tdk is referring to ebay like auction sites only. I have ordered many dvds from supermedia and I trust them. I think the price for good 2X media from tdk has finally reached an affordable level and may I say it is about time. I have 25 tdks on the way from dartek for 2.62 each, I will post back when I get them.

  4. It is NOT TDK media

    It is TDK OEM

    i.e. PRINCO

Its pure trash, stay away unless you like pixilation, out of sync errors, etc.

I just went through a 100 pack and 40% have some pixilation during playback.

Spend the $4 and have an end product that is worth something.

  5. Just got my TDK dvd-r for 2.62 each. They are tdk, exactly the same as the ones I paid 4.50 for a few months ago. They also have the same labeling and packaging and say made in Japan. I have burned a few so far at 2x with no problems and they play fine too. They are dvd-r47a
    in jewel cases.

I would not buy any off ebay though but there are some real tdk's out there for under 4.00. Dartek.com does not have the ones I bought listed as of this afternoon, my order had a ship date of 8/8 until I called them so they may be sold out till then, they do have tdk dvd+r for 2.62 however.

Can you explain exactly what you mean by this? You seem to be contradicting yourself - it is not TDK, it is TDK, it is Princo.

I thought TDK were rebranded Prodisc?
