  3. From the beginning.

I use smart ripper to rip the DVD, takes around 12 mins
i then use DVD2AVI to create the D2V and Wav files. takes around 10 mins

I then open up TMPGEnc to create the Mpeg 1. does matter what configuration i use it will freeze. Doesn't matter what DVD i am doing it will freeze. The only way i can do it is if i stay with the PC and work on it, if i leave it to do it's job that's when it freezes. I tend to try and use Batch Encoding so i can encode 5 movies in a row, this is handy so i can go off to bed, get up and go to work and by the time i get home it should be finished, but it always seems to freeze on the first film. but even if i just encode the one movie and go off to bed, it will sometimes freeze but not always. I did Remember the titans last night and it encoded fine, but 2 days ago it would't used the same settings as i did last night. I normally restart my pc, Close all programs, close all the prosses i can with trl, Alt, Del and then Encode.

My PC is more than up to the Job but i think it might be something to do with Windows XP. Has anyone else had trouble with Windows XP?

Hope this has helped. As i am newish to this but have succesfully copied 17 DVD's to date.

    Thanks for all your time

  5. Screensavers are off, All power is on and stays on. Only got 1 harddrive but is 120 gigs! Don't need to defrage as this is a new harddrive only 1 week old. Always turn off everything i can including Virus Checkers.

Which is the best Version i have the newest one, plus tried the version before the one we have now, but did the samething.

  6. You might wanna try changing the direct-show multimedia file reader.

    Start up TMPGenc
    Click option...evironmental setting
    VFAPI Plug in tab
Right Click on Direct-Show Multimedia File reader and select higher priority until its at 1 or 2

    Hope this helps
