I captured from VCR using Matrox Marvel G400-TV card into my win98SE system successfully. I can play the caputured avi file with mediaplayer.
When i used TMPGenc (v 2.57) to encode it to VCD, the TMPGenc monitor is not showing the full picture. It shows, what seems to be some video at the top left hand corner of the monitor, with 99% of the others in black, with some grid dots. It finishes the whole file and no errors reported.
When l played back the mpeg1 file, it shows exactly what the monitor was showing when it was encoding, some sort of "video" at the top left hand corner!
I suspect that the video captured by Matrox G400 may not "convert" the avi file properly to enable TMPGenc to recognise it somewhat!
I have another avi file from another source, not captured by the G400 card and have no problems with TMPGenc!
Thanks in advance

Are you using a compression codec? Which one is it, and what are your settings?
Have you tried Virtual Dub with compatibility capture? -
Thanks, l found out myself! The VFAPI plug-in for my system was too low a priority in the Environmental setting in TMPGenc. I jack it up and its now working. Thanks.
