...can anyone help me - ive converted quite a few vcd's now with some very good results/quality.......but........
when theres a slow panning scene theres always jerking!
is this just something you have to put up with with vcd?

Going from an interlaced source (2 fields per frame) to a non-interlaced (1 field per frame) will cause this. I like to think that of it as interlaced video moves in 1/2 steps while non-interlaced moves in full steps. (If that makes sense)
Anyway, you can improve panning by changing deinterlacing settings to blend the fields -- but this causes the entire video to be less sharp. Personally, I just live with the choppy panning.
