After authoring a 1 minute test DVD,it takes 15 to 20 minutes to burn to my Pioneer A04(master,2nd IDE).
In Nero it gets to 100% ok but then takes a further 10 minutes!!
With Ulead Workshop it gets to step 6 and takes 20 minutes!!
Any ideas what is wrong?
Thanks
HT

I think the dvd specs call for somewhere around 30 mm to be burned to a dvd so the older lasers can calibrate. This allows it to be more compatable with older players. If you only have a minute of video it is probably only a few mm of actual data so filler must be added to bring it up to dvd specs.
If your burner only takes this long to finalize on these small data discs it is probably a dvd spec issue and nothing wrong with the burner or software. -
Even though your test video was only 1 minute, there is a constraint on the DVD LEAD-OUT that causes this problem. The LEAD-OUT has to be 2MM from the end of the data, AND the LEAD-OUT has a minimum diameter of 70MM. So, whether you want to or not, 60% or so of the DVD space has to be written. I guess the burning program is writing "1's" to the disk to fill in "data" up to the LEAD-OUT area.
