i'm looking at buying a couple of hard drives for video capture.
what would be faster?
a firewire hard drive or say a Western Digital 7200 rpm hard drive with an 8MB cache?
thanks.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say the WD 7200 with 8mb of cache. The key here is the huge cache size. I would venture to say that a firewire harddrive will be fast but will still be as slow as a 7200 rpm drive, if not slower. When in doubt, read the specs on throughput.

that's what i thought.
i think i will stick with my original plan:
two 100 gig western digital drives (7200 rpm, 8mb cache) on a raid 0.
