What is the best DVD player out there right now!?

I'm new and i've checked the reviews page but I hoping or thinking those reviews might not be right on target. What do you guys and gals think? WHo actually knows which player is the best? Please let me know. My b-day is coming and i'm finally gonna get a dvd player.

Asking what is "best" is a wide open question without first qualifing what is important to you. In general, I think either the Theta David II or Theta Carmen are right up there as being the best DVD players. And, the styling matches the other Theta products like the Casablanca, which I feel is the best A/V preamp.

Good point. I want my new dvd mainly for watching vcd/svcd/dvdr/ and so on. I can blow about $200.00 and less. Thanks
