I am capturing VHS to an AVI file in Virtual Dub. I am then converting to DVD in Tmpegenc. The file plays fine in my Apex AD1500 DVD player, but if I try to play the file on my PC in WMP or the ATI File player that came with my Capture Card, it freezes up about 3 seconds into playing. It actually locks up the whole program (both of them). Any suggestions? Thanks.

You might try downloading a copy of powerdvd (DVD playing software)
which, when installed, will overwrite your direct show mpeg2 codec which
may be corrupt OR ty nimo's codec pack which will install the latest versions of a number of codecs. -
Reinstalling PowerDVD didn't help, but it gave me the idea to re-install my ATI drivers and MMC. That did the trick! Thanks for the advice.
