    Hi,
This is my first post in this forum. I have been reading for a while. I need help. I have been encoding for a while. I generaly use TMPEG and have done much with MPEG-1 files. They looked great on my WinME system in Media Player, etc. I now upgraded to WinXP and all of those playbacks are slightly pixelated. Even .mov files in Quicktime don't seem to be as smooth. It almost seems like my color settings are not high enough. But I know they are at the max. What could be the cause for all of my playbacks in different software and file types look like this? MPEG-2 files don't seem to be affected. I would appreciate any advice on what to look for.

Try the Nimo codec pack, you may have a wrong codec being used. If you have the SMR (Angel portion) remove it, its rubbish

Also check the DirectShow in TMPGEnc for future conversions
    Select options > environmental settings
    click the VFAPI plug-in tab
right click the "DirectShow" and select higher priority, do this several times until its at the top with a value of 4
