I'm trying to decide on which DVD burning software to get....and somebody said ULead used to have a problem with burning video files over 4Gig.

Since I want to use the max capacity of my DVD disks, this is something I need to know, Please.

    Does anyone know?
(does this software have any other "problems" that users could tell me as a new user, Please?.....Or, is there a better program in about this price range too?)

I'd appreciate everyone's comments on those questions, Please

  2. DVD Movie Factory is good....but Ulead's DVD Workshop 1.0 is way better. The 1.2 patch is also out and that fixes many bugs.

I've not had a problem with Ulead's DVD Workshop 1.0 (with files over 4gigs). To me, I think Sonic DVDit Professional Edition 2.5 is useless cause I've stumbled upon DVD workshop 1.0. DVD workshop is almost like DVDit but it has more advanced features that you can toy around with.
Well Authoring video is out of the way.

As for data burning you can just use NERO Burning ROM version 5.5.9.0. That works great for all my data backups. VOBit is another Cd/DVD burning software that does both VCD/SVCD/DVD Authoring and regular SVCD/VCD to Cd-R/RW burning. It's a little confusing to use. I gave up on it cause I lost patience. But I found NERO and DVD Workshop 1.2 to be great alternatives. I hope that help. L8terz

    Thanks, IonNuke,

but the $299 cost for DVD Workshop 1.0 is way too much for me at this point.

  4. Talking to Ulead tech support, they said only Windows XP with a NTSF partition would be safe over 4 gig's. However, the software claims to do this with any Windows OS and FAT32. But, it didn't work for me. I got random crashes over 4 gigs.

This is BS. FAT32 has a 4GB limit for a file size. The software is wrong if they are speaking of file size. You can have as many as files the hard drive allows that are less than 4GB.

If you really need more than 4GB, consider switching to NTFS. You just can't do it in FAT32.

IonNuke, can dvd ws do nested menus like DVDit PE? I'll have several movies on disk and would like to top level menu to have a buttons to play each movie and buttons to go to a lower level menu for each movie with scene selections.

I'm sort of on the fence, like DVDit's support for AC3 sound instead of MPEG layer 2 (my system doesn't like the latter very much), but like DD WS because you can tell it not to re-encode compliant files.

I am surprised your system does not like mpeg 1 layer 2 audio. VCD audio is mpeg 1 layer 2. If you are willing to give up disk space and video bandwiidth DVDWS V1.2 supports LPCM audio. DVDWS supports nested menus.
