  1. Good morning!

I know this is more system related, just wondering if anyone else has this problem. WinXP Pro clean install, both a new HP and Sony drive installed. Built-in burning capibilities of XP work, however CDRDAO, Nero, DVDMF always crash after burning a disk. I always get the burning complete message, click the box to close it, then 'Poof' - reboot city. A real pain when I want to burn a bunch of disks. I have the VIA chipset with the latest drivers (see computer details). I also installed the forceASPI drivers, which has not fixed it.

I really want to use XP, but I have had this problem for the last 6 months, so i have been back on 2000. Any assistance is greatly appreciated!

    TIA,

    TJD

Well I'm sure its not an XP issue or nobody with XP installed would be burning cd's. Most people on this forum seem to like XP and I think it is by far microsofts best attempt at an operating system. P.S. I burn plenty of discs and have never had it crash after a burn.

  4. My experience with XP is that it's management of resources while capturing is superior to 2000. Like I said, I only run into problems when burning CD's

  5. yeah true....XP isn't crap. I"ve burned already enough to be a 100 spindle of DVD-Rs and CD-Rs and XP hasn't crashed yet.

Infact my uptime for XP on my current burning box is about 28 days without a reboot. [/img]

  6. Thanks everyone. I guess I will blame this issue on the VIA chipset (unless someone with the VIA responds, indicating all is well for them). My alternative would most likely be to create a dual boot system, with Win98 and XP, switching to 98 at burn-time. What a pain.

    Thanks again for responding!

  7. I use xp and face this problem once in a while but only with CDRWIN. When ever I use CDRWIN to burn a VCD, after CD is burned, system reboots. Never faced the problem with nero or Ulead DVD Movie Factory.
Tried checking 'Eject CD after Burn' under settings in CDRWIN and sometimes it works and sometimes system reboots. I don't think its a xp problem.
