    Hello!

Well, I've got some sync problems when encoding a MPEG file with TMPG. But the AVI file is normal, without any problems. This problem doesn't appear with all encodes, but around 5 times in 10 encodings. I've tried to encode with a wav file extracted from the AVI file, and the problem continue the same. Please help me, i'm going crazy!!!

    Thanks..

No, the source is NTSC and the encoding too!

  4. is it a true avi file or a divx file. If it is a divx file, there is a guide to the left that explains how to sync the audio video. What you'll need to do is extract the audio (virtual dub can do this) and then see if the audio and video file are truly the same length. If not you'll need to stretch shrink the video or audio to compensate (look at nicky's digital digest seach through google.com for more info on that).

Something I am going to try out because I have the same problems with divx is to check the "do not frame rate convert" in TMPGENC when I encode the divx to mpeg. I have been told that would solve my problems.

It's a true uncompressed AVI file.
I've tried to extract the audio then encode wav + avi > mpeg...
    The problem stills the same!

  6. Are you using a standard TMPGenc template or something you have put together yourself ?

  7. I have actually gone mental and phyiscally threw and stood on / smashed a number precious DVD medias, bcos of the damn sync problem. Here is what i do...

Load the AVI (DivX) file into TMPG with the PAL DVD template and then change the screen to 'Full Screen - Keep Aspect ratio', then start encoding.

    - As you know this can take upto 5 fricken hours so i get really annoyed when i come out with a duff DVD.

Then i use Ulead Movie Maker and Author Menus to suit the disc every 15mins of the film. (this also takes about 1 - 2 Hrs)

Then after that use the Built in DVD recorder to write the file to the media.

Put it in my DVD player ( standalone ) then fast forward it to get to some speech, at that point i have gone mental again....

Ive also tried the audio extraction with VDub - no joy

All i know is that the DivX movie is in Sync, the MPEG2 is sometimes in sync, but no DVD is in sync!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

HELP BEFORE MY EXPENSIVE DVDR GOES OUT THE WINDOW!!!

  8. Try changing the priority of the "Directshow Multimedia File Reader" under OPTION>ENVIRONMENTAL SETTING...>VFAPI PLUG-IN

I have mine set to 5 and I have not had sync problems encoding AVIs since then. Before that I would get a gradual loss of sync (about 0.5 to 1 second) towards the end of the video.

    Good Luck
