You should check to see if you have other programs running in the background.

  3. If your CPU has a tendency to overheat, then running at ~100% might cause your PC to freeze, but a adequately-cooled CPU should function perfectly at nearly 100%, for hours and hours and hours. In fact, it will encode as fast as it can when running at full tilt. If it ran at 50%, the encode would take roughly twice as long as it would at 100%.
As Churchill famously predicted when Chamberlain returned from Munich proclaiming peace in his time: "You were given the choice between war and dishonor. You chose dishonor, and you will have war."

  4. Now what u mean. Got myself also some problems with some divx files. Seems to be it has got something to do with a vbr problem. It wil encode for example for 40 minutes of the movie and then the systems slows down, almost freezes uo(cpu 100%) and encoding time runs up to days. I use the normal templates wich are given by the project wizard. Nothing fancy...just normal...

Did not find a way to work around it. When I encode the same movie with CCE it hasn't got that problem. Maybe more users have this problem. If so...maybe we can work it out together...
