I have been using WinMe, but there are some issues where some software works fine in Win98, but doesn't in WinMe. I also tried Win2K, and getting the capture card to work is a nightmare! Win2K just seems to complicated. There are also software packages that comes with video cards that only supports Win95/98, and nothing else. So, what is the best Windows version for best overall performance and software support? Win95, 98, 98SE, Me, 2K? At this point I would go with Win98...

OK, after spending two days trying to get the ATI AIW 128 32MB AGP card to work correctly for capturing, I'm pulling the card! No problems with the card as far as driving the PC monitor, but for capturing it's a mess. I tried all different kinds of drivers, fresh install of Win98 and WinMe, but no way to get the MMC7.1 to work reliably in all resolutions. I could get the low and good capture mode to work OK, but not the high DVD resolution. Also, even with the VFW drivers installed, Vdub or Vidcap would not see the card. So, if anybody wants a new video card with all cables and software CD, you can have it for $50 + shipping. Send me e-mail at skittelsen@yahoo.com
