I'm interested in finding out that as well. I think I read something about that here and that it can be done but it changes the quality or something like that.

If you open the mpg (mpeg-1 that is) in virtual dub and use the 3rd-party DeLogo filter (download the filter separately, do a search for it), it will remove the logo - imperfectly.
As Churchill famously predicted when Chamberlain returned from Munich proclaiming peace in his time: "You were given the choice between war and dishonor. You chose dishonor, and you will have war." -
Using the DeLogo filter is a little tricky (you need an image editor like Photoshop, etc.); And it's best for those semi-transparent stationary logos like TV stations use. (You may want to check out this guide for DeLogo: http://hilljack.vampirez.com/delogo_00.htm)
For subtitles you might want to try LogoAway. It isn't as perfect as DeLogo, but it does remove them (with artifacts).
Or you might consider cropping the image enough to get rid of the subtitles. I've done this in a couple of cases. I cropped the top too so it looked like a letterboxed movie.
I've never done the DeLogo or LogoAway on a MPG file, only AVI.
