  1. I have Roxio CD Creator Platinum. I have a file that is "MovieName"...CD1.Deutsh.mpg. I try to create a VCD and everything seema to be going OK until I get to "start recording". I get a message "One or more files have been modified since creating the project. It is recommened to stop the recording and run validate project from the application'" So I do this and it says my layout is valid but still the message only this time I hit continue. It then says "If you continue this product will be temporarily modified". It begins recording and after it is done it won't play. I open the CD and find these files CDDA, CDI, KARAOKE, MPEGAV(MUSIC01), SEGMENT, VCD(ENTRIES.VCD, INFO.VCD, LOT.VCD). What am I doing wrong. Alsoi have downloaded a sampl from this website. How do I record a playable VCD with .bin and .cue files? Thanks for your patience with a new guy...

  2. I'm not going to answer the Easy CD Creator question. That proggy has some serious limitations when it comes to making VCDs...

As for burning CUE/BIN images, you can use a number of programs including: CDRWin, the newer versions of Nero, BlindWrite, Fireburner, others.

For a fully free option, you can use the demo version of CDRWin but you are limited to 1x burning. Or, you can get CDRDAO. This comes with VCDEasy and is probably easier to use through VCDEasy.

You may need to update your ASPI layer before CDRDAO/VCDEasy will working in burning your disc -- download and install ForceASPI from http://www.doom9.org

  4. OK I downloaded a VCDEasy and it detected no ASPI. Then I tried to install forceaspi17 and still no aspi detection. Then I tried to make a VCD using VCDEasy and it created a bin file only. What next, I am lost!!!!

  5. AAAAARRRRRGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHH!!! OK, I still have no aspi after following the instructions to the letter. I checked it with aspichk. So I got Nero and tried to burn an .avi movie twice I used the guide posted in this site. Everything went perfect. BAM-the VCD still doesn't work. I try to play and it has CD1, MPEG, VCD. EXT and SEGMENT files when I open it. The 2nd try has all that minus the CD1 file. Should I try a different kind of blank CD(using CD-R) or is this happening because of no aspi? Or am I just dumb as a rock? Gotta call my shrink now...

For the price, Roxio CD Creator Platinum works just fine. But it does like to have fully compliant .mpg files, the error could have been wrongly reported if you did not get any warning when you dropped the mpeg in.

File preferences > always show MPEG information

    Wizard

    Next
    Simple Video sequence > Next
Add > Browse to your .mpg file > Open

Do you get any complaints about the mpeg not being compliant ?

    Video TAB > Select NTSC/PAL > OK
    Next > Next
Select Mpeg from left window click arrow to move to right window > Next

Check make a disk image, this is safer with unknown mpeg's, if the image is written correctly, you can re-load it and make VCD straight away

If it did complain, then you need to correct the .mpeg with TMPGEnc before using it with Roxio.

Better still move on to Vidio Pack 5.1, its much much better

  7. Thanks King John. I tried it exactly as you suggested on two different files. Both times I created an image and it said "one or more files have been modified-validate your layout". I did that and it said "no errors". Same thing happened last night when I tried, only I hit continue-the end result being a VCD that did not work. I'll try and correct with TMOGEnc and be back later. Even though it didn't work, there may still be hope...I'll let ya know the results.

Try the Nero demo to author/burn the VCD.

If it works, your problem may be Roxio.

If it doesn't work, you problem may be your encoding.

Well the error is almost suggestion that something is using the .mpg file at the same time as your authoring. Try moving the .mpg file to a different location, stop any other programs from running in the background.

    Ill send you a PM
