  1. Hi all.

Perhaps the brain trust in this forum can help a newbie with his dilemma.

Just installed a Pioneer DVR-104 on my system (Win XP, AMD XP1900+ 768 Mb DDR, ASUS A7N266E Mobo). Using the Veritas software that came with the burner, I can burn data (successfully burned about 9 Gig on 2 discs that read perfectly), but I cannot for the life of me burn a DVD-Video.
I tried authoring the data with Sonic myDVD (the data set is a bunch (about 3.8G worth AFTER conversion by myDVD) of VCD files, that I am assuming myDVD is converting to DVD compliant files. I create the DVD and store it to the hard disk first. If I use Nero, I copy the VIDEO_TS files and menu files, start the DVD-Video burn process (I tried this using UDF/ISO mode as well) and get an error message that there was a Communication failure.
If I try to burn it to the disc in myDVD, I get an error message saying the program can't continue.
If I use the Veritas bundled software, first it would start to copy, but only copy parts of the files (the number of files was right, but their sizes were wrong). Now it just kicks back an error (yes, that's the same program that I used to successfully burn data).
Based on the fact that I can burn data (albeit with only 1 program so far), I'm assuming that I'm authoring the DVD wrong.
I've tried to use IFOEdit to make sure the IFO files are all right, but at this point all it did was confuse me more.
Has anyone run into this before? I'm at my wits end, so any and all help will be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks in advance.
