  1. Hi All,

I've successfully downloaded either whole or split films as AVIs (DivX) and been able to join them, convert to MPEG and split out again so I can make VCDs. However a couple of recent downloads have been fine quality for video, but no sound. I'm guessing I'm missing a codec or something, but how do I work out what I need? It all works OK for other downloaded DivXs.

    Thanks for any pointers.

  2. Hi Paul, I'm having a similar problem, using Ulead Movie Factory to convert AVI's to DVD MPEG. Sometimes the audio does not go through. I'm using Adobe Premier for it's editing features and use the same settings throughout the process. I can't figure why some lose audio and others don't. Hope we can get some help thru this forum. Good luck to us both !

  3. almost certainly a codec issue ...try downloading the Nimo Codec Pack.
Also suggest not to join AVI's....just convert them with TMPGE then merge and cut after encode.

  4. Hi,

    Thanks Wee Haggis

Yep - I do convert the AVIs to MPG then join. After a little more research, I think my particular problem is because the AVI is encoded with AC3. I'm trying to see if I can convert it to prove this theory out... I'll let you know how I get on!
