You can do it with TINRA but i don't know why you are wasting your time.

You can't convert large files as TINRA cannot compress nor can it bridge the 2 gig limit.

RM is highly destructive and theirfore when decompressed, you will get horrible blockiness.

RM uses a high VBR and your synch problems will be unwatchable.

MPEG also destroys so you will get a even worse product.

    Not worth your time.

  4. You can find the instructions and a link to TINRA from the CONVERTING RM to AVI WITH TINRA section (http://www.vcdhelp.com/rmto.htm).

I've tried it but the results suck. I was just wondering if anybody has ever gotten decent avi files from rm, cause I have 650MHz K7 Athlon, 256MB RAM computer and the framerates I get is about 2,5 fs. Apparently TINRA requires a monster PC to get decent results.

  8. I have done many of these before. I do them with the family guy eps because I haven't found a site with anything but rm's for these. I do a screen capture with snagit. Instead of your audio out going to the speakers, you have to run it back into the microphone spot. It will give you an avi file then just use tmpeg to make an mpeg from the avi. My rm file didn't lose to much quality. I watch them on a 36" and it looks pretty good(noticable blockiness of course, we're talking about rm files hear). If you use snagit, you won't get any video(just audio) unless you go into real player, click view, then preferences, then the performance tab. Then make sure a checkbox is unchecked on the bottom right(it says use optimized video, or something like that). This method works for me with cartoons, but if you have a movie just right click on it and go down to delete, because thats about all its good for. Good luck!

    Hi,

If you got TV-out and a Capture card and a real good System you can connect the tv-out to the input of you capture card and run the rm through the tvout and capture the footage you would probably have to run a cable from line-out of you soundcard to line-in for audio.

when you are converting with tinra you have to edit the created avi file with virtual dub and change the frame rate to match the audio that should fixit abit you will still get a few sync problems but if you split the rm to small managable files using RealProducer Plus the convert the rm files and edit with virtualdub to fix the frame rate and the audio and video sync problem will be less noticeable.

    Hope this helps

    Thanks

  10. I've tried with snagit and hypercam proggies but the sound sounds like it's coming from very deep underground, just bearly noticeable. I think it's because I only have the integrated AC97 or something sound card.
If you have a decent sound card then these capture programs are much better than TINRA. Guess I have to buy myself a new sound card.
And it's true that Real Media files are suitable only for cartoons and anime.
