They are not audio .dat files, but rather mpeg files with a riff header.

If you have a vcd already - the simple way is just to copy it.
Easycreator will not except .dat video files by themselves.
    You have to "convert"them.

I suggest you use VCDEasy and in the VCDEasy tools section you
can convert a .dat to an mpg file. You can also use VCDGear.
Both these proggies are available in the tools section of this
website (left hand side, near the bottom)

Nero is an alternative VCD and SVCD burning tool which, while not free,
is excellent tool for buring video to cd. Nero btw will also accept .dat files
    without a problem.

Don't know what your using, But easy CD creator 5 (VCD creator) loads mpeg1 .dat files with no problems.

  4. short possible answer is to copy the .dat file to your hard drive and rename the extension to .mpg. The .dat file is a slightly modified version of the mpg file and renaming shouldnt be an issue.

I would recommend trying it first and burn the vcd just to make sure

  5. I use VCDEasy & Nero mostly. Last time I tried v5 of easy CD
with a .dat mpeg-1 it refused to accept it. Easy CD is a poor
piece of software in my opinion and Roxio have been slack in
their coding since they took over. It used to be great, back when
v1 was released (1.11 for NT) it was solid and dependable. Now..

@ macleod. Yes renaming works but the moderators might not
    like you suggesting it

I agree that Adaptec did a better job, but having said that Easy CD Creator is still very good. I think Roxio is telling you to get Video Pack 5.1, if you want something better, this is what I use now.
