I own a CCD-TRV65 Sony camcorder and I want to know what is the resolution of the image with an Hi8 tape.

Ur Sony works? Mine was a piece of crap. Got a digital 8 Hitachi.
Are you going to VCD or SVCD or DVD NTSC?
For VCD:
320x240
For SVCD:
480x480
NTSC Television:
640x480
DVD NTSC:
720x480

In answer to your question I think HI-8 has about 400 lines of resolution. I can't remember anymore than that. I have an HI-8 camera but like DV much better. I have found that old tapes converted to (s)vcd come out pretty good as long as your using the svhs in. Why do you ask? thinking of upgrading?

I think Hi-8 has 510 lines. So whenever I save up a few grand I'm gona pick up this lil baby - http://www.canondv.com/xl1s/index.html - It has Non - interlace recording. Now thats nice.
