    I have powerdvd and WinDVD4 but none seem to be able to capture a still from an AVI file? I have captured DVD stills from Powerdvd before but can NOT from an AVI file??? The capture was snapping but I can NOT find the pics? So I assumed it did not capture any frames I was snapping...
    I am trying to capture paused stills from a digital8 captured AVI file from my vacation of the kids playing and such. Can I do this and is there other software players that can?

    ALso when I play it back thru powerdvd I get horizontal lines? But when I use the the regular windows medial player it looks great? Whats up with that????

    If the digital8 codec is installed on the computer, VirtualDub would allow you to grab frames.

    Vdub > Copy source frame to clipboard

    Or File > save image sequence (Bmp)
