  1. Greetings,
I am putting together a powerpoint presentation with a short video clip which is in .mov format. Normally, the first frame of the video is all that is shown on the screen until you click on it to begin. It then should show the video clip in the same window. However, when I import the clip and click on it to play, it opens a separate Real Player window and plays the clip. How do I get the clip to play in powerpoint without opening a separate Real Player window? Perhaps I need to convert to mpeg or avi first? If anyone has any advice on how to make this work, I'd really appreciate your input.

    Thanks in advance,

  2. I'm not sure microsoft will let you play an apple format (.mov) file in their software.

I've played mpeg1 and avi files from within powerpoint successfully. You will need a fast system including hard drive to play a high-bandwidth avi file. So I'd suggest converting your .mov to a mpeg1 file.

Also, I needed a more robust presentation program, so we ended up with a product called MediaShout. Really nice if you have a 2 monitor windows system. (http://www.mediashout.com)

    Hope this helps.

I think you have your file associations set to play mov files with RealPlayer. Change the associations (window file manager, tools, folder options) so that the mov files use media player.
