I havn't had any problems with the drivers in Win2k, but I too wondered why they weren't on nVidia's website. Actually, I was browsing to see if there were any updated versions. Next test is to see how these work in XP, havn't tried it yet.....

=(, no everything is not right.
no matter what setting i try, i just dont see anything on the preview/live window after i hit capture other than that black window. is there anything wrong with this version of virtualdub with my win2k>
this is so annoying. i even followed the steps given at http://www.vcdhelp.com./mjpeg.htm and i still dont see anything. -
aite, i change the video source to video tuner and i see what's playing on tv but no sound. yet that video composite source still wont play anything. I know that you use s-composite as your source HillJack. i dont understand why i dont see anything from the video input. i see it clearly when i was using asus live. Hilljack, what else that i might forgot to do or what else do i need, in terms of drivers, codec, software....? ?

I have a 7700 Deluxe from some months but I have the classic problem: how I can capture in W2K without to loose frames?
I tried with any display driver (ASUS or NVIDIA) and with ASUS capture driver or with NVIDIA WDM 1.04 but with no success.
With ASUS capture driver I can capture frames only at 352x288.
With Win98SE I don't have any problem at any resolution but for my needs I must to use W2K.
I know that the W2K ASUS capture drivers are buggy: do you have any other solution?
Thanks in advance

I have a clean Win 2k Pro + SP2 + Asus V7700 12.90 + Asus Live 4.6b5 + HillJack's WDM v104 driver. This is on an ASUS CUSL2 + Intel PIII 800EB + Asus V7700 DLX.

Let me try this again, because I now have my win2k Asus V7700 dlx working wonderfully!
I have done the following:
Fresh load of:
Windows 2000 Professional + Service Pack 2
Asus Win2k V7700 v12.90 video drivers
Microsoft Directx8a + the video capture patch for directx8a (on the same download page)
Asus LIVE 4.6 b5 (Because it loads the proper capture drivers you need first)
HillJacks WDM 104 (Actually installed it twice, it errored on me the first time)
Then I use VirtualDub 1.4.7 with Huffyuv 2.1.1 and TMPGEnc 0.11.28.112.
I set my custom capture on 352x240 and use UYVY + huffyuv.
Then I use TMPGEnc with noise and line sharpening filters ont he highest (slowest) motion compensation, and the VCDs I burn look BETTER than the VHS tapes they came from!
I found I NEED win 2k because I always went over the 4gig limit, and I was having all kinds of annoyances and also real problems with the split (spill) files. Besides, win2k seems to crash a LOT less than win98se did.
I hope this helps. Hilljack sure helped me, and I'm now quite pleased with my captures.
Oh, and to EVERYONE having WIN2k problems with ASUS graphics cards!!! Please PLEASE do the following!!!!
<TABLE BORDER=0 ALIGN=CENTER WIDTH=85%><TR><TD><font size=-1>Quote:</font><HR size=1 color=black></TD></TR><TR><TD><FONT SIZE=-1><BLOCKQUOTE>
So PLEASE, Everyone write to ASUS tech support and tell them their video capture under win 2k is broken! I should think if we can get 30 or 40 poeople to write, it should get them to look at it.
</BLOCKQUOTE></FONT></TD></TR><TR><TD><HR size=1 color=black></TD></TR></TABLE>
I DID write, 4 days ago, but of course I've heard nothing back from them. We need EVERYONE to write to them!
Thanks, and good luck all!

Hello.. I got my new athlon a few weeks ago. Until yesterday I used all the drivers that came with my ASUS 7700 DX card, the display driver (not 12.9), directx 8.x and the asus capture driver. It all seemed to work good, but it was just too anoying that my computer couldn't manage to capture video at a higher resolution than 352x288, so after reading all your messages, I decided to install the new ASUS update and Hill's driver.
Later I was playing around with the new driver and found that the framrate was not improved at all. After playing around a little too much I came to the "custom mode"-settings in VirtualDub, and suddenly the computer resets..
Now after following the exact install/update schedule that was posted by someone(?), the system is finaly stable again, BUT
when using the Windows WDM capture driver, the TV-picture us flickering and looking crappy in all means.. The strange is that when I run ASUS live, the "live-mode" looks crappy but when switching to "capture-mode" it looks fine again.
Why is that? The same happens in VirtualDub but captureimage looks bad and compressed. Later IExplorer crashed due all the drivers update, and i really had to reinstall it..
Im a little afraid that the videocard could be damaged to all this..
Is there any idea of even thinking of capture video in such high resolution as 720x under Windows2000, or should i just leave it.. /Thanx -
hey hilljack,
got my 7700dlx working. I took out all my cards & installed the driver on win2k-SP2 booted ok but when I tried running the virtual dub to see if the asus driver was there, its not. I can't seem to find the damn driver. I reverted back & forth with diff driver version but to no avail. I also check it on my hardware system properties under legacy video capture devices & nothing was there. I tried installing the nvidia wdm & it recognized it but 1 component didn't install properly & can't get it to work was the a/v TV Tuner for sound I think, it always has an ! mark. please let me know how to get it working.
Working on a clean install. drivers for 7700dlx, sblive value, 2 realtek NIC cards. my board is a asus P3V4X w/ 256MB P3-733 10G HD -

Thats the same problem I have. I really shure your Video-Card isn't defect. The flickering is because the driver seems to be optimized for NTSC resolutions. These TV signals use a frame-rate of 30fps instead of 25 on PAL. So if xou switch into the capture-mode the SW use the configuration you customized on the capture-page. Only on that page it's possible to adjust the frame-rate! It looks like a very BIG bug in the SW! I already watch out for a solution, but it seem there is no one, but reinstall the whole System
