  1. Hello, thanx for reading/helping.

I have an old movie on a VHS tape, I love this movie soooo much, but I want to get onto the computer before the tape disintegrates forever. I have a camcorder, Sony TR7000, the necessary Firewire cables and ports and the VCR hooked up to the camcorder. Everything should be working but it isn't.

The camera can see the input from the VCR, until I plug in the Firewire cable, when I do, the image on the camera goes black and the camera automatically switches to DV IN, and searches for the file I "want" exported.

My set-up is like so... VCR, with tape connected to the camera with the 3 "out" composite cables. The camera is set to VTR, and is on special record. I've also tried other settings on the camera, so far, these are the only ones that work, up to the point were I put in the FW cable. Next I have the Fire wire going into the computer. Adobe Premier 6.0 set on DV Capture.

All I want is for the camera to act as a link, for the signal to go from the VCR through the camera to the computer. No re-recording.

I thought it would be in, out and done, so far this has taken 3 days, PLEASE, PLEASE help!

    Your friend, Aron.

  2. Check if your camcorder has a setting in the menu, to enable the PASS-THROUGH feature...if it has one. I believe it's something like DV-Out (I'm not sure, my camcorder doesn't have pass-through). If not, your only option with the hardware you have right now, is to make a copy on your camcorder, and then transfer that to your PC.
