  1. I have been successful at other conversions but don't want to waste time at doing this.
IN TMPGEnc I can make a mpeg2 to fit on dvdr. If I am just trying to put the movie itself no subs or menus can I just convert audio over to 48k and run through sonic. Should it work that way or will I have to go another longer route. I hope my question is clear if not I will write back
    Thanks

  2. Yep Mpeg-2 is the format DVD uses. You can probably fit it on one cd, but that all depends on how long the movie is and how big your file comes out. If you cant get it to fit try using CVD format. Pretty darn close to dvd quality. As for the audio you could do it with TMPGEnc, you can also use toolame with TMPGEnc...pretty good program. But if you want you can demux convert audio and vid sepertaly and mux back together. Hope this helps.

Toolame fails on me about 1 in 4 times. When it goes through it works well, but the failures are frustrating.

I don't know if anyone uses another product or if the take care of the audio outside of Tmpenc, but I would really like some recommendations.

    ?Thanks,

Toolame fails a lot in the latest TMPGenc plus version for sure...
There are alternatives to use as a external encoder, tmpgenc can support MaENC and SCMPX, which both are more stable tooLame (but not as good)

  5. jolo,

depending on what you are doing try HeadAc3 & BeSweet (which uses lame) but external to tmpgenc. Use tmpgenc just for the video and
    mux audio/video afterwards.

I think offline is definately the way to go so you can see if you have problems before you waste a lot of time encoding both the video and the sound.

I'll give the products a shot.

Also, I've tried using SCMPX, but it is soooooo slow, I gave up on it before it completed.

    Thanks for the great feedback.
