I understand how to change between AVI and MPEG/MPEG2, but how do I reduce the size of the resulting file in SVCD format so that the movie will fit on two disks? I get a file that is either way too large (2+ GB) or 4-5 files of the right size.
Thanks!

get a new version of tmpegenc (V2.0 upwards) and use the guide in the how to convert section, this tells you how to split the movie into 2 sections whilst encoding and also adjust the encoding bitrate so that your resulting 2 mpegs will fit exactly on to 2 700mb cd's
see here for the guide http://www.vcdhelp.com/tmpgencsvcd.htm
