  1. Hello there,
I am a blind user who wanted to double check that my ripping method was correct.
    1. Rip DVD with Smartripper demuxing video and sound to separate files.
    2. Using Rempg2 to encode vbideo if larger than 4 gig. Also using Rempg2 to convert the .ac3 file to a .mp2 file. Here is my question if I need tdo this step with the audio file.
    3. Using Tmpgenc to combine the new m2v file and .mp2 audo file into a new mp2 file.
Now I would be able to burn this new .mp2 file to a dvd and watch it on a stand alone unit correct?
I am unable to use SSSproose Up becuase it does not work with my screen reading program. If I am doing something wrong please let me know. Thanks

  3. Thanks for the answer. How and what do I use to author and burn. Can I use Ulead Moviefactory or Nero to do the authoring and burning. I will not be making menus at first. Also, is there anyway to keep DD5.1 on the new back up or is it only possible to have Dolby Proalogic. Thanks

You can use moviefactory but if you want to keep the ac3(dd) use spruceup, ulead workshop

  5. I am unable to use Spruceup but I will try Ulead Workshop. Those are the only two that will allow DD ac3 files? Is there any others you are aware of just incase my screen reader does not like Ulead Workshop. Nero does not work with DD ac3 files? Thanks

  7. No, I am really blind and somewhat new at dvd back up. I have been making vcds and svcds for about a year but was looking into moving on to bigger and better things. I know it seems wierd that a blind guy wants to back up dvds but I saw for 14 years and also have friends that like to watch the movies also. It seems kind of wierd to me to sit infront of a blank tv and listen to a movie that is on a cd or something. Who knows call me wierd!

  8. what do you use to interface with the PC?

and how do you "see" various settings buttons, etc in all the applications you have to use?

i know it's possible to interface via voice but did not know anything existed that would allow you to say, set I-Frame combos in TMPGEnc or know where to point and click a button/select somethin from drop down menus?

  9. I have a program that is made for the blind. It is called Jaws for Windows and it reads everything on the screen for me. It work great. All I need to do is just tab through the buttons and it reads which button it is. Some programs give me a bit of a headache but most work. Spruceup being one of them. I am unable to use the mouse so when it asks you to drag the movie to the start point I am unable to do that. I do not want menus in my dvds so maybe Spruceup would work. I am not really sure how to use the program and I have not sat down and tried to figure it out yet. I was hoping to find a different program that worked instead but maybe I should figure Spruceup out. It was so easy to burn vcds and svcds using Nero that I hoped it would be just as easy. Any advice or suggestions would be great.

  10. Couple questions for ya there blindy, I checked out your website, and it says you collect playstation 1 & 2 games. What do you do, just listen to the game and randomly push buttons?

Your website restistration has no real info on it. That seems quite fishy as well, and I see no student under the name Cory going to UW Whitewater. Unless you aren't in the student directories. (Cory is the name you use on your website for your email address, unless that isnt your real name)

  11. Well, it seems I have been checked out. No, my name is really Cory Ballard and I am really blind. The part about PS and Ps2 games are for my buddies who like to game. About the web site I really did not know what I was doing when I created it and just was having fun. I went to www.3.95.com and got a host. I regestered my domain from there also. INot showing up in the University of Wisconsin Whitewaters directery that I am not sure about. I should be listed and I start my last class today. One more and I am graduated.

  12. I sat and thought more about the last post and I am some what angry about it. I am not sure if you meant anything by the comments but to me it seemed like you were accusing me of something. Maybe I am wrong but who knows?

  13. You are a Sociology BA, correct? So you would know the effect that your post would be on this board. Don't say you didn't know. A blind guy ripping dvds. You can't even check to see if the audio/video is synced up. Some older dvds, the audio doesnt sync pefectly with the video. You have to add a couple seconds of silence into the beginning. So like this, how would you even know the quality of the video you are encoding?

To me, it doesnt make any sense. It prolly doesnt make any sense to others either. That or the I collect PSX/PSXII games you have listed on your website. Then again your domain info, is shady, having no real info on it, which means I am guess you won't get the info to get it back when it expires, leaving it up for grabs for someone else.

You sound like a kid messing around on an older sibling's or friends computer.

  14. First off, why would someone mess around on their older brothers or friends computer asking questions. Makes no sense. And if you can not understand that a blind person may enjoy the process of making the movies and also watching them with his friends then why did you bother replying to this thread. If you want to partake in a witch hunt for some shady character out here trying to fool you look somewhere else. I had a question that I hoped someone could answer not a thread where I had to prove who I was. I have been making vcds and svcds for about a year and enjoyed the process as much as making the movies. It felt good to know that I could do something on my own with out getting too much help from others. I also really enjoy watching movies. If you think I am some young kid then just ignore this thread so that someone who is willing to help can.
