Well I don't know why but instead of Win2000 I switched to 98SE and am using a different driver (one of the previous ones) and YVU9 instead of Huffuy and capturing at 400 X 320 Look awesome as compared to 320x240. My system can handle that resolution max and also I have to use WinTV2000 program to capture, since VirtualDub simply doesn't do it.
Also I have used deflicker filter in VirtualDub (time consuming but awesome - setting window size 1 (to avoid luminace changes) and smoothing factor of 18).
Now the order of filters I apply is VirtualDubs deinterlace (blend fields together) and then use Deflicker (with interlaced source - UNCHECKED since deinterlace is used first).
So everything works great however there is a minor issue now with red color mostly as it changes accross frames.
Take a look here (the pictures at the bottom, right picture is the next frame of the left picture)

Where am I making a mistake?

I suspect the "flicker" you first saw is the result of encoding with the wrong field order. Some capture cards use the wrong field order. If you use the wizard option in TMPGenc, it will scan your avi file and find the correct field order. All things being equal, it's better to not use deinterlace at all, however if you have an AVI that you can't record again, using deinterlace will get around the field order problem and can save the capture. In the future, change the field order, and encode as interlace even better, use inverse 3:2 pulldown for your encode.

Hmm, thanks for the reply. I don't quite understand inverse 3:2 pulldown. I know it has to do with converting 23.976 to 29.97 and vice versa.
What I think now that remains as the last option is to actually capture at 352X240 to avoid interlacing, since 400 X 320 seems to be non standard format. Maybe I could try 352 X 480 but I don't think my computer can handle that.
Anyways if someone has more info to offer it's appreaciated.

Use "inverse 3:2 pulldown", and you won't have any interlacing problems anymore. It will STILL keep the framerate. You are confusing it with Inverse telecine. You don't really need to understand it, as TMPGenc does all the work.

You should try the x 480 resolutions. Vertical resolution gives clarity not horizontal resolution. Plus, in order for it to deinterlace nicely you should use either an x 480 or x 240 resolution or maybe x 360. I don't see why you can't capture with no drops in Huffy. I only have a modest p3 600 and I can capture at 352 x 480 with zero droppage.

Weeelll, I don't know if my PII 333 can handle it but I really ought'a try the 352 x 480. However I have a feeling it's the VHS VCR Pal to NTSC conversion.
I don't know, but that's still one thing to try. I am testing another video right now.
Soo will let you know how it works out.
Thanks for all the help.

Two More Questions
Where do you select INVERSE 3:2 pulldown (I can't see that option).
Also:
I notice on my latest capture that every five seconds that Jump Jump Jump thing appears. It looks like it is old VCR thing and I can't do NOTHING about it. Even if I manually do the tracking it doesn't do it.
Or if someone has an idea on this one please feel free to answer.
Ok well thanks for all the help.
