  1. I captured a movie from VHS in order to convert it into VCD.
My file is very large (1.2GB) and i split it into 2 parts with the TMPGEncoder (Mpeg Tools - Cut). The two mpg files looks great in the computer.
I burned each one in a 75mins CD with Nero 5 with VCD compatibility and CD-i checked.
The VCD plays great in my DVD player (Pioneer 535) but when both CDs is almost finished (the last 5 - 8 mins of movie) the movie satrt to fail, colored blocks appear in the screen, the sound dissapear and the scenes appear freezed and finally the cd stop playin.

Any of you can help me?

    Thanks in advance

  2. Several possibilities -
one is that the bitrate is too high at the end for your player, but if it's a standard VCD, it shouldn't be.

What's a 75 min CD? You mean an 80 min CD (standard CDs are 74 min)... Some players don't handle 80 min CDs well (although a Pioneer 535 shouldn't have a problem - I use the 333 with 80 mins filled to the brim all the time).

Fingerprints are also a possibility - try wiping the disk and replaying.

Disk errors with cheap CDs is also a possibility - I run OnTrack FixIt's "Disk Verifier" to read all the sectors of a CD to insure that it's all readable. You'd be surprised how many fail (for some reason, the light blue "cheapo" disks seem to be the worst). I've never had problems with name-brand disks (TDK, memorex, etc). I personally really like the Memorex black disks - they don't hold fingerprints very well, and protect the surface better.
