  1. I am trying to create menus and chapters for a vcd. Can I capture the stills using Virtual Dub? If so is there a guide out there. Thanks for the help!

    Easy. Edit out the video before and after the frame(s) you want to be stills.

    Save using File-->Save Image Sequence...

    Assign a name to the still you want. Click "Okay" and your still is saved as a bitmap.

  3. This may sound stupid, but when you say edit out the video what do you mean?

    Let us say you want one frame in your video to be a still picture.

    Load the video into Virtual Dub (VDub).

    Select Start. This marks the beginning of your video as the start of your edit sequence.

    Using the slider and double arrow buttons, find the frame BEFORE your target frame. Select End to mark it as the end of your edit sequence. Press the delete key. This deletes (edit out) the first part of the video you will not need.

    Use the double arrow buttons to find the frame right AFTER the frame you want to be a still picture. Select Start again.

    Move the slider to the end of your video. Select End. Press Delete. The frame you want should now be displayed in the viewing window.

    Select File-->Save Image Sequence. Name the file to the name you want your still picture to be. VDub will save your single frame as a bitmap. Voila!
    Hello.
