  1. Hi experts!

I´ve just read the excellent guide on how to make a vcd fit on one cd.
How do I make a svcd fit then? Are the recommended settings given in the guide the same if I make an svcd instead of a vcd.
Will the quality suffer a lot if I fit a whole movie on one cd.

I´d be grateful for some clarifying answers.

    Regards
    Peter

Unless you have a 50-60 minute movie, yes.

  3. You can fit a SVCD in the same way, basically if you reduce the average bitrate until the file size bar at the bottom corresponds to the size of your CD. The only prblem is that as banjazzer said, it will look pretty crappy trying to cram that much info onto one cd. Remember that SVCD is basically one step up from VCD and requires more space.

  4. try some of the templates on this section Tools, (using ones like KingViper's SVCD template will work with divx very decent.) I've modified his template to suit my needs, and can get a divx to svcd 1:1, or even a movie under 95 mins. I've done some 120 mins on one cd using Kwag's templates (at mpg1 vbr and at mpg2 vbr using tmpgenc CQ), and some have been great quality and other movies have not either fit on one or quality really took a hit. depends on the movie and its source. CCE is also tops when doing mpg2 svcd alongside the latest versions of tmpgenc 2.5x.
Most times though, if possible its better to do a two cd encode. I prefer using 2 cd's but again, depending on my needs (when travelling i prefer taking my backups on one cd to play on my laptop), again, so come out nice looking.

  5. I've given up on the 1 cd method. It produces crappy results.
Using Kwag's tempates with 2 cd's work quite nicely.
