i can only hear and can't see

hi fellows.
i wrote 3 days ago the same problem, but now i'm more specific. i'll appreciate your help.
i have noticed that regular AVI movies i can convert with NERO 5.0 to VCD and watch in my LG 4941P DVD player. the problem is with most of the files i have that are in AVI encoded with DIVX. when i convert these files, burn it and put on the DVD player OR in my computer (which has the DIVX codec) i can hear the sound but the screen is black.
i can view the movie on my PC as AVI before i convert it. the problem is during the convertion process, i'm sure.
BTW, before i used nero to convert the AVI files i tried to use TMPGEnc 2.10 and 2.56a and then burn it with nero, but nero made some problems when it claimed that it can't convert that file, even though it doesn't need to. i have probably done something wrong. what was it?
